Arabic dance steps and postures

Steps, Movements and Postures of thw Arabic Oriental Dance

Dancers are considered different because they do "muscle dance" as opposed to European dances such as "step." In the traditional Arab dance knee is never carried above the hip. Variations allow for dancing, even while the dancer is sitting or kneeling on the floor by tilting the torso, arms and hands forward, almost touching the ground with their hands, or back in the same way.
